Outreach Ministry

“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’” (Jesus Christ, Matthew 25:35-40 ESV)

Union Gospel Mission

Come join us on the 4th Monday of every month starting at 4:30 pm to prepare and serve food to those in need. Opportunities to serve include prepping and preparing the food, serving, cleaning, and sitting down to dinner for fellowship. The Olympia Union Gospel Mission serves 3 meals a day Monday through Friday and a total of 3 meals on the weekends. To learn more information about this wonderful organization, please visit the following website: https://www.ougm.org/.

***On hold due to COVID Restrictions***

A group of volunteers from Christ Our Hope visit a local jail to conduct a Bible Study with the inmates, providing mentoring and support, and to pray with those that ask. In addition, the inmates will write their prayer request that are placed on the church altar and prayed for by the congregation. If you would like to volunteer, there is a process you will have to complete including a background check so please see Fr. John or Jim, our Senior Warden, for more information.

Street Angels Ministry

Following Evening Prayer on Wednesday nights, Christ Our Hope hits the streets of Olympia carrying care packages (canned goods, toiletries, and seasonal necessities), coffee, and a open heart to hear the needs of the community and provide prayer. All volunteers are welcome but we suggest you wear comfortable clothes and shoes as there is a lot of walking on sidewalks and uneven surfaces. However, not only do we have parishioners hitting the streets, but there are many members of our church providing financial support for the packages and prayer during the event which are greatly appreciated!

We do have an Amazon Wishlist of items that are used for the care packages. The list will be updated at least monthly so please check back often. Items can be purchased off the list but feel free to buy other things you think the homeless may need.

Please visit: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/dl/invite/46B5pPO

We will always accept donations of canned goods with pop tops, cases of water/juice, and gift cards (Fred Meyers, Walmart, Big Lots). Please give any gift cards to Fr. John or Fr. Jeramy and let them know if you would like a copy of the receipt.
We will accept socks, underwear (men and women’s), gloves, hats, scarves, and only large or extra-large sweaters or jackets. The only items we ask that you don’t donate, as of right now, are clothing items such as pants, shoes, belts, and shirts.
